Why it pays to look now
Roof problems don't stay small. They wait for the next storm.
Most of the expensive jobs we do started as something cheap that nobody could see from the ground. This is how it usually goes.
- Now
A crack in the ridge pointing
Hairline gaps along the capping. Invisible from the street. A repoint fixes it in a day.
- A few storms later
Water gets under the caps
It runs along the battens, not the tiles, so nothing shows inside yet. The bedding starts letting go.
- Next wet season
The stain on the ceiling
By now it's timber, sarking and plaster as well as the roof. Same fault, much bigger bill.
What we do
Everything on a roof, from a cracked ridge cap to a full factory re-sheet.
Most of our work is restoration and reroofing on Melbourne's older housing stock. Each of these has its own page with the detail.
Roof Restoration
Clean, re-bed, re-point, replace broken tiles, then prime and coat. Turns a twenty-year-old roof around without replacing it.
Reroofing & Roof Conversion
Strip the old roof and re-sheet in Colorbond, or convert tile to metal. New sarking, new battens where needed, new flashings.
Repointing & Rebedding
Ridge caps and hips are where tiled roofs fail first. Strip the old mortar bedding, re-bed the caps, re-point with flexible compound.
Commercial & Factory Roofing
Warehouse and industrial re-sheeting, sheet replacement, gutter and box-gutter work, and leak tracing across large spans.
Leak Detection & Roof Repairs
Water in the ceiling almost never comes in where the stain is. We trace it properly, fix the cause, and show you the photos.
Roof Cleaning & Pressure Washing
Moss, lichen and years of grime off tiles or metal. Often the first step of a restoration, and sometimes all a roof actually needs.

Real roofs, photographed start to finish.
Straight answer on price
We don't publish prices, because nobody can price your roof from a website.
A quote that arrives before anyone has been on the roof is a guess, and guesses get revised upward once the work starts. Here's what actually moves the number, so you can judge any quote you're given, including ours.
- Size and pitch, measured in squares rather than guessed at
- Condition of the battens and sarking underneath, invisible from the driveway
- Material: concrete, terracotta, slate and Colorbond all behave differently
- Access: single storey with a clear yard versus double storey and scaffold
- Solar, skylights, chimneys and aerials that have to come off and go back
How it runs
Four steps, and you see photographs at every one.
Free on-site inspection
We get on the roof, walk the whole thing, and photograph every fault. Not a look from the driveway and a number over the phone.
Written quote with the photos attached
You see what we found and what each part of the work addresses. If something can wait, we tell you it can wait.
The work, with nothing hidden
If we find something worse once we're up there, we stop and call you with photos before touching it. You get a revised number and you decide.
Handover and after photos
Before and after on every fault, and the site left clean. You keep the photo set for your records or your agent.
Where we work
Based in Brunswick. On roofs across Melbourne and well past it.
Each area has its own page covering the housing stock and the faults we see most there.
Brunswick
Home base. Victorian terraces, worker's cottages and interwar bungalows, much of it on original terracotta.
Coburg
Interwar bungalows and postwar brick veneer, much of it on sixties and seventies concrete tile.
Preston
Postwar weatherboard and brick veneer, fifties through seventies, mostly concrete tile.
Essendon
Edwardian and interwar period homes. Larger roofs, terracotta and slate, often two storey.
Northcote
Victorian terraces and worker's cottages, slate and early terracotta, steep pitches.
Pascoe Vale
Interwar and postwar bungalows on generous blocks. Concrete tile, straightforward access.
Emergency call-out
Roof leaking right now?
Storm damage, a sheet lifted, water coming through the ceiling. Ring the mobile. We get a temporary fix on it and make the roof safe, then quote the permanent repair once it's dry enough to work on properly.

What we're seeing on Melbourne roofs this season, and how to read your own roof from the ground.

Guides · 27 Oct 2026Repointing vs rebedding: which one does your roof actually need?Repointing and rebedding get quoted like they are the same job. They are not. One seals the ridge, the other rebuilds what it sits on, and picking the wrong one is how a roof ends up back in the same state two summers later.Read it →
Guides · 20 Oct 2026Restore or replace? How to tell if your roof is worth restoringA restoration can give a tired roof many more years. It can also be money spent on borrowed time. The difference comes down to what is happening under the surface, not how the roof looks from the street.Read it →
Questions
The questions worth asking every roofer.
I've got a cheaper quote. Will you match it?
Usually not, and here's the honest reason. On a roof, the cheapest quote is normally cheapest because something has been left out: the bedding isn't being replaced, only pointed over; the broken tiles aren't in the price; the sarking isn't being looked at. Ask the cheaper quote to itemise what's included and what happens if they find rot underneath. If it's genuinely like for like and still cheaper, take it. We'll tell you so.
Are you insured?
Yes, public liability, and we'll send you the certificate of currency before we start, without you having to chase it. We also hold a Working at Heights certification and a Construction White Card. Ask any roofer for these in writing. Anyone who gets cagey about it is telling you something.
Do I need to be home?
For the inspection it helps, so we can walk you through what we found on the photos. For the work itself, no. Most of our customers are at work. We'll need access to the yard and a tap.
What if you find something worse once you're up there?
We stop and call you before we do anything about it, with photos. You get a revised number and you decide. What we won't do is keep working and hand you a bigger invoice at the end.
Do you do rental and investment properties?
A lot of them. We can deal with the agent directly, send photo reports for the owner's records, and work around a tenant's schedule. Just say so in the quote form.
